TargetBox partnered with the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA to create a custom 8ft x 20ft Cat Shelter Container, designed to provide a safe, comfortable and easily maintained environment for cats in their care.

Built from a 20-foot shipping container and based on our popular design for a TargetBox Basic Office Container, this innovative space features 2×4 wall and ceiling framing, 2” spray foam insulation, and Trusscore vinyl interior walls and ceiling. The result is a smooth, hygienic, and temperature-controlled shelter.

The container includes a residential entry door with a half-lite window, a large window for natural light, and multiple ventilation components, including a 10×10” louvred vent and bathroom exhaust fan, ensuring consistent airflow and comfort for the animals.

To ensure functionality and efficiency, the shelter was fitted with an ESA-inspected electrical system featuring a hydro panel, seven outlets, six dimmable LED pot lights, two in-wall heaters with thermostats, and a thru-wall A/C unit for year-round climate control.

The grey epoxy-coated floor gives staff durability and easy cleaning, while an exterior light enhances nighttime visibility and security. Retaining its factory operational container doors for added accessibility, this customized build perfectly combines practicality and compassion.
